The mens Argyll Jacket from Cameron Ross is a semi-formal kilt jacket that is supplied with a semi-dress sporran.

If you prefer a more traditional look then the black Argyll kilt jacket is probably your jacket of choice with its easily recognisable traditional lines, and self-facing notched lapels.
Named after the Argyll region of the west coast of Scotland, the Argyll kilt jacket (also known and referred to as the 'Day' jacket) is quite similar in style to an ordinary jacket, with the exception of its turned back cuff - which is known as a gauntlet, and is best suited for semi-formal daywear and those occasions where a lounge suit would usually be required.

The mens Prince Charlie kilt jacket (sometimes also referred to as the 'coatee'), was named after The Young Pretender to the British throne, Charles Edward Stuart as well as grandson to the former Catholic King of England and Scotland, James II, and has always been the more popular kilt jacket of choice when it comes to formal highland wear.
Prince Charlie kilt jackets are an altogether more formal affair than the Argyll kilt jacket, and can be worn together with a 5 button high waistcoat, Victorian collar shirt and matching ruche tie, and the aforementioned full dress sporran, as opposed to a semi-dress sporran.
To match the excellent array of kilt tartans available from Cameron Ross, the Prince Charlie Jacket is available in three different colours, green, blue or black, so you can create the perfect look for that special event, no matter which kilt tartan you choose.
The Tweed Jacket...
The mens Tweed Kilt Jacket from Cameron Ross at Sanders Menswear and Hirewear like the Argyll Jacket is particularly suited to daywear and semi-formal occasions.

So just like the mens Argyll kilt jacket, the Tweed kilt jacket is best suited for daywear and semi-formal dress wear. It's lines are similar to that of an Argyll kilt jacket, but has a cuff similar to that of a Prince Charlie kilt jacket - i.e. gauntlet style.
The Tweed kilt jacket is highly suitable for a more contemporary look. A grey Tweed kilt jacket worn together with a black standard collar shirt and grey tie looks particularly striking.
Because the Tweed kilt jacket is more appropriate for daywear / semi-formal wear it comes with a semi-dress sporran.

Kilt Jacket / Highland Wear Fitting appointments are advisable and recommended especially if it involves more than one person as is often the case for hirewear, in order to ensure that you get the priority service and undivided attention that you deserve. Due to an increased demand for our hirewear range, fitting appointments are also indeed a requirement for Saturday fittings.
Don't forget that our three Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire based menswear stores in the East Midlands are open 6 days a week from Monday to Saturday (closed Wednesday afternoons), and we can assure you of a warm welcome.
